Black Prima Premium Leather Book Style for Nokia N800 Review

This is a really nice well made case. The bad is there are no openings for charging or the headset so you have to remove the device almost completely to charge or listen to music thereby risking damage to the unit. I am going to try to locate a leather punch which should solve the problem. I just can't believe that Prima would design such a nice case but then leave out such an important aspect in design. I may call them and maybe they can fix this flaw in their next shipments. It is a nice well made case and if you are willing to either live with the problem or fix it yourself you will have a nice case. One other strange thing they did is offer the red case with a clip but no clip for the black which I have. I never use a clip myself but I am mentioning this as it could be a problem for some of you.

I was going for the Frio from thermaltake, but it did not fit my case, so I settle with the contact 29, now I see that this was my best option since I can install another fan and et almost the same performance from the Frio but at less price.

My Phenom II 550 black edition CPU was having issues playing Bad Company 2, the temperature was 40 to 50 degrees and as soon as I install the Contact 29 I was down to 30, then I notice that the Asus motherboard was controlling the fan speed at a very low speed, so I disable that from the hardware monitor on my Bios and now is even better and cooler!

There aren't too many iPod classic leather cases with belt clips to choose from, but this one seems to do well enough. It has a plastic cover that protects the screen all the way to the control dial; the problem with that is the plastic prevents you from actually controlling the track wheel. I just cut the bottom portion of the plastic so that the control wheel is exposed; easy fix. I'll be keeping my eyes open for another case, though.

This board is working excellent so far. Very stable and overclocking is a breeze. I'm currently running my Q6600 at 3.0GHz. All my favorite games run great! GTA IV, TS3, Crysis everything maxed. I had some doubts about the on-board VIA audio, it turned out to be better than that of my older Intel DP35DP board.

AMD Athlon 64 Processor FX 70 125 WATT AM2 Review

There is no such chip as an AMD Athlon 64 Processor FX 70 125 WATT AM2. It is a socket F with 1207 pins, not 940 socket AM2 as the ad banner describes. Don't be mislead into believing this is the next chip in the FX Athlon series after the incredible FX 62. It was an interim chip produced before the Quad core chips came out. The only motherboard I can find for it comes from Asus (Even they don't guarantee compatability since the board was designed for an Opteron.) To realize a performance increase over the Athon 6400+, you will need two CPU's, otherwise even the Athon 6000 out performs just a single chip. I do not believe any other board manufacturers are planning boards for this chip. There are ads all over the internet for the AMD Athlon 64 Processor FX 70 125 WATT AM2, but none of them clearly indicate that this chip is a socket F. I believe there is a lot of inventory out there and this misleading banner is just an attempt to unload an expensive orphaned chip.

Easy to install and well made, however........ the xenon cpu temp hovered at 70 C plus and that was at idle.The heatsinks were installed correctly with a quality thermal compound and the computer case is extremely well designed with front and rear fans creating super airflow.I removed these silent but ineffective cpu coolers and installed fan type heatsinks and the cpu temp instantly dropped to 40 C.

I did a lot of investigation into which CPU cooler to buy and am pleased with my ultimate decision.

This device is extremely well-made, performs very efficiently, and is extremely quiet. I'm not overclocking my CPU (i7 950) so it's not surprising to me that I have had no problems with heat.

The installation of the device is fairly straightforward. Attachment to the motherboard with the supplied Intel kit was very easy as was mounting the extremely quiet fan.

For me, aesthetics are part of the product's allure. At this level, the product is extremely attractive.

Ultra Quiet Cpu Cooler Intel Review

I installed this heatsink/fan yesterday, and I was blown away at how quiet it really is.It replaced the Thermaltake I had installed on my Core Duo which was intolerably loud (48+ dbA).Since the machine in question was a development box that was going to always be on, I needed to be able to hear myself think, not to mention sleep in the same room as the box.Thankfully, the Zalman is near silent when not under heavy CPU load.

Installing the sucker is time-consuming and tricky.Make sure you follow the directions carefully.Also, make sure your motherboard/case/power supply is compatible with this model.It's a very large heatsink.Check out Zalman's website for compatibility details.

Anyway, I highly recommend this cooling solution.It's worth every penny.

The product details provided as of 4/29/09 are still poor. I wasn't sure what I was going to receive. When it says, "Sold individually" it sounds like it will ONLY be the motherboard and nothing else. I realized this after I placed the order. Once I got my order, it was a complete package. As named P5GC-MX/1333 by Asus. It comes with by the looks of it 2 EIDE cables, one SATA cable, a power supply adapter cable to supply a SATA type drive with power, The I/O shield, a manual(probably needs to be updated) it was written in 07'. This package also comes with 2 CDs(driver CD and a software library.) Regarding the manual, it says that this motherboard can support up to 2 GBs of memory. And 1 GB per DIMM slot. Well based on current research of mine, this motherboard supports up to 4GBs of memory(of course you need a 64 bit OS to recognize that much. I assume that would mean 2GBs of memory per each slot would be okay. I need to check up with Asus to make sure this is right. I haven't assembled a computer yet out of this motherboard so I'm not sure about performance, but it will be better since I got a dual core processor to go with it, Intel's E5200.

I am further updating this review: Although the manual says 2GB of ram maximum on this board and so does the tech support agreeing with it, I was still able to establish 4GB of RAM. I can only use 3.2GB though because of Windows XP home though. I assembled my computer using 4GB of Kingston DDR2 RAM and the Intel dual core e5200 CPU. I didn't need to update the BIOS either to accept this cpu either. It's awesome to see how hot the CPU is running at along with the voltage meter...none of this information is really all that important unless you intend to overclock. I tried it out once and it rose the temperature a little bit. I returned the CPU back to factory specs though. The motherboard is good for the price.

I just received my Vanguard SBH-100 head, and I have to say I'm very impressed.Although lightweight, it has a high-quality feel to it.It's rated at 22lbs, but it feels as if it would hold twice that weight.It holds my Canon XTI with battery pack and 70-300mm lens with no trouble at all, even when I lean on it.The adjustment knobs work smoothly and easily, and the locking knob has a nice drag adjustment.It has a separate knob to allow you to pan horizontally without unlocking the head completely.This is very useful if you plan on stitching shots together to create panoramas.I noticed that this feature is not present on some of the more-expensive ball heads.This was a must-have feature for me, and the reason I took a chance on the Vanguard.This particular model is listed as their "small" head, but at 4 inches high and 2 inches in diameter, it doesn't seem very small to me.Unless you're mounting a telescope or something, I can't see needing a larger head than this.All-in-all, I'd say Vanguard hit it out of the park with this one.I've seen tripod heads that run $300-$400 or more, and I can't imagine what they can offer that would make them worth the added dough.This head is rock solid when locked, has buttery-smooth movement when unlocked, and offers features (panning control, bubble levels) that the others don't.Money well spent!

Chilltec Cpu Cooler Review

I recently upgraded my no-brand computer (i.e. homebuilt) to a quad-core QX6700 chip. I figured Intel's stock cooler would be sufficient for the time being (I mean they designed the chip after all, right?).. but the stock coolder was terribly flawed for a QuadCore. I check out forums and reviews, and saw that in order to cool a quadcore you either need a very strong air-cooler or a water-cooler. Not wanting the hassle of water-cooling, I researched the strongest air-cooler I could find. I came up with three products, a Zalman, a Scythe and this Vigor/Ultra model.

What was described in all the reviews that I read was that the Vigor/Ultra cooler was a step above the other air coolers with its Peltier Thermoelectric cooler (TEC for short). The price made me think twice, but I went and bought it anyway. I needed something for my 3D rendering, plus I was considering some overclocking too - the QX6700 is an unlocked chip meaning that it can be easily overclocked. The stock clock speed is 2.66ghz, I wanted something a bit more peppy.

The unit comes with the cooler and a 5.25 inch drive bay module. The installation of this cooler demands that you remove the motherboard from your machine. It has a considerable height, but should fit in most full size ATX cases. It is incompatible with some tall memory heat spreaders, due to its size and the way motherboard designers like to put the RAM slots right up next to the CPU. If you do not have large radiator fins (i.e. Dominator -brand RAM) on your RAM you will be fine.

Use some nice thermal grease - do NOT use the supplied grease. Its terrible. Buy some MX-1 from Arctic Cooling, or some other brand like Artic Silver. Order it alongside this purchase.

Take your time with the installation, and you should be fine. Be sure to have a set of needlenose pliers that have a texture on the jaws, to grip the knurled fasteners. Makes your life easier. Just don't overtighten, be gentle but firm and be sure to take your time.

If you have a motherboard that has an alert that the CPU Fan is not connected, do not worry. Just let the motherboard complain, let it continue to boot and it will work great. I don't know why they forgot to include a CPU fan header on the connector cables. LGA 775 motherboards have a 4-pin CPU fan connector, but this cooler only comes with a 3-pin chassis fan header.

The 5.25 inch module controls the TEC to keep the cooler from actually developing condensation. It cycles it on and off as you are using the machine. It has a temperature monitor on the front panel and a little image of a digging man to show how hard the TEC is working to "shovel way" the heat. So far I have been unable to figure out how to get the module to accurately report the CPU temperature. It instead reports the motherboard temperature. If you want to more accurately measure CPU temperature, download and install CoreTemp, a free program. You will then see the true temperatures. Also, if you do not have a free 5.25 inch bay you're going to have to figure out a way to wire it up to the module externally.. and the cables they provide are fairly short. So be advised if all your bays are full, this cooler is going to make the installation more difficult. The cooler requires this module to work, though I suppose you could take it apart and put the circuitry somewhere in your case - the module is mostly empty space. Really bad design for the module. This is why it gets a 4 rating.

So now for some basic benchmarks. I don't have any of the standard benchmarking software, I was just monitoring the CoreTemp readings as I used my machine with both the stock cooler and this cooler. I shall let the results speak for themselves... And yes, I know everyone's using Celsius, I'm an old fashioned kind of guy with Fahrenheit.

Something to note! Try as I might, I *cannot* get the coretemps over 145F. This cooler really does come into its own when you try to push things, it pushes right back!

I'm very pleased with these results for an air-cooler. I haven't gone beyond a modest overclock at the moment because I needed to do some rendering work. Even with a good cooler, higher overlocks affect stability and I require something stable. I'm confident that this cooler will easily go to 3.6 ghz and perhaps even higher. Right now, this machine is rock solid at 3.2ghz, a 20% increase over the stock speeds.

* I don't find it noisy, its quieter than the Intel Stock cooler on full blast, thats for sure. But if you want Whisper Quiet, this isn't the cooler for you.

I liked the general layout.
But...the second memory channel would not work, at all. It was not the DDR3 chips I was using, because I tried them one at a time in the first channel, and the computer would run fine. But if I added any memory to the second channel, I got multiple BSODs.
Could have been just the board I received, but I didn't want to chance it and bought a DDR2 board instead.
Still waiting to see if the Amazon return center will refund my $$.

I went with this case because I was breaking clips off the detachable types.This has a trraditional belt clip that will "hang" on a belt or pocket.It is a snug fit with my thin plastic cover installed on the Treo 700p. I wrapped the treo in shrink wrap an forced it in to stretch out the case a bit for easier removal, worked fine.Stays on while running, but has come off in the car when sitting down.Cover flap clasp is magnetic with a center hole/pin, not an easy closure every time, but is fine once I stretched it out. Keep in mind, I have the thin (1.25MM)plastic case on the Palm as well, without that case the fit is fine. Best I've tried, Its a keeper!!

Let me preface this review by saying I have been building and messing with PCs for over 15 years now. This is my first motherboard actually manufactured by Intel themselves. I decided to choose this board because of the size, price, and the fact that I didn't plan to overclock this system at all and figured this would be pretty close to a reference platform to use since it was manufactured by Intel. I was building a PC for my home theater and wanted stability and figured I did not need all the bells and whistles of a board meant for overclocking. I also liked the lack of legacy PS2 ports.

Like I said I decided to build a HTPC and had some parts laying around to start it off. I had a Geforce GTX280, hard drive, and case. I added this mobo, Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 4 GB PC3-12800 Core i5 Memory Kit, Intel Core i5-750 CPU, and a OCZ 600W power supply. I planned to use the box for mainly streaming video and playing games using Steam so I did not add any optical drives. I have a PS3 that I used for Blu-ray playback.

The system was a easy build and I didn't run into any major problems putting things together. You need to install the RAM first because the larger video cards are snug with the closed memory retention clips. I ran the SPDIF cable from the motherboard header to the video card with the cable that was included with the video card and it worked with no problem. The board has 3 Fan headers, 1 for the CPU and 2 for case fans. I used them all. When using a large video card like I did you loose a couple of SATA ports because the video card blocks them. If they had used angled plugs this would not be a problem. I only have a single drive so I just used a unblocked port so it wasn't a major problem for me.

Once I got everything together the box powered up with no problems. I went into the BIOS and set the boot options for booting from a external USB drive I had and installed Windows 7. Here is a tip: Go download the network drivers using another PC and have them available to on a thumb drive once you get Windows installed. Windows 7 does not seem to have built in drivers for this NIC.

Once I got that up and running everything went fine... That is until I was watching a streaming video and the system rebooted. I let it restart and nothing seemed to be wrong with Windows. I started working on installing games from steam and the system rebooted again. So the recurring thing became random reboots every 15 to 30 minutes. I went into the BIOS and bumped the memory voltage to 1.65v which the memory was rated for and double checked that the timings were correct. I still had the same rebooting problem. I updated the BIOS using the F7 method described on the Intel site. I still had the same problem. I hit the search engines and forums looking for info and found that this mobo is very picky about what memory you put in it. The common theme was random reboots until they stuck memory in from the Intel approved list on the product page. So I ordered a couple of sticks of 2GB 1333MHZ Dimm DDR3. Once I put that in I had no further problems and the system has been rock solid. Of all my years in building a PC this is the first time that I have got a mobo that had to have memory from the manufacturers approved list.

Buy some memory from the approved list for this mobo on the Intel site. I bought some Corsair in a kit specifically marketed as being for Core i5 and i7 and it did not work. The forum posts I have seen show other top tier memory from other manufacturers having the same problems with this motherboard. Stick to the list and you should be ok.

After buying several cases for my iPhone, I found this one more option at Amazon. At the beginning I thought that the design was good, but when I received the case, simply the stuff did not meet the basic expectations. Do not get me wrong. The skin is high quality, some features like the locking button at the bottom is an improvement over the best case I've tried (The one called the dockable from Sena). The implementation of the design is so poor that the holes in the case do not correspond to the ones on the phone. The end result, you can not use the headphones, you can not plug it to be charged, the phone shoots off because the pressure is so strong on the power on button that it just can not resist. One nice way to trow your money into the sewer. Helio.

I like the board but Intel cut corners in an effort to reduce manufacturing cost. They didn't put heat sinks in the voltage regulator area. Now the voltage regulators run far too hot. This will cause all kinds of very bad problem for the rest of your components. Just do a search for "DH57DD and voltage regulators" for more information. This could have been a great board. I buy Intel for stability I'm not a fancy over-clocker this make me question my faith in their products.I recommend spending 50 more dollars on a board with voltage regulator heat sinks.

ASUS LGA1156 Intel P55 DDR3 2133 ATX Motherboard P7P55D Review

I have a great ATI video card, and in my opinion every SLI based board is just huge $30+ tax to Nvidia so I really liked the fact that this has everything I need without paying more for features I don't want.

Some salient points you don't find in most reviews:
1.Extremely stable board - booted the first try and has been rock solid ever since.
2.Boot time is only OK - even without RAID or old parallel seem to take almost 16 sec. to get post screen and another 15 to get to the windows loading point.Time to first usability with Windows 7 is about 45 seconds without a lot of startup programs.
3.Onboard sound seems fine for me; the controlling UI is OK and functional and lets you do things like set the balance of your back speakers etc.
4.Sleep Mode works great - by enlarge this works very seamlessly, it shut off every fan in the system so it is totally quiet and speed time to resume is great.
5.With an SSD and Windows 7 you really never seem to wait for anything.
6.Asus has a great support forum and usually seems to churn out new bios updates and utilities.
7. Looks better in person than in the pictures where it seemed a little to pastel-- but in person it looks slick. Negatives
----------
-There are 2 chassis fan plugs; 1 cpu and 1 "pwr". In speedfan you can only control the chassis fans together and you can NOT change the CPU fan by voltage (if you have a 3 prong fan instead of 4 prong) and you can never adjust the "pwr".
-The Asus windows utilities look a little too cheesy and always seem way to big and clunky for what they actually do.
-The memory bays are really close to the CPU - I don't think I could use 4 slots with the Noctura unless I moved the fan to be exhaust only. Tips
-------

-Remember to try and setup the hard drives to be AHCI rather than IDE. This shaved about 10 seconds off my boot time.
-The stock BIOS didn't really do a good job w/ turbo-boost; but the 0711 Bios fixes that.

Got one of these in 2004. Still works great but the older proccessor footprint makes it obsolete for fast gaming. It's a very stable platform. Never crashed with me. I like the way the board has SATA and IDE cable connectors. The best use for this board?? I still use this board in my 'utility' computer to extract info and files from older IDE hard drives and transfer the files and data to SATA drives. I've made money on saving info from customers' old hard drives that way.

The wires are thicker than I needed for this, but car users should like this thick insulation.

The leads are 23 inches long, the 3 main wires are 14ga and the 2 control wires are 18ga.

The relay fits very tight into the socket, so you could mount this upside down if you wanted to.

It works as expected.

TR2-R1 Amd AM2 Cooler Review

This thing is the best heatsink/fan I've ever owned. I've gone through quite a few, too.

It is nearly silent and is very cool-to-the-touch. Which to me means it's doing its job. I have it on a 65W Athlon64 X2, so it's not like it has that much heat to dissipate anyways.

The heatsink is really easy to install, and just requires a flick of the lever instead of having to push down hard on a tension clip with a screwdriver. I onced stabbed and ruined a motherboard when I slipped off the clip with a screwdriver before.

I really can't believe how quiet it is. With this fan and a new Antec EarthWatts powersupply, I can't even hear my PC at night anymore.

Also, this has one of the best lifetime expectancies, and a 6 year warranty which is nearly unheard of for heatsinks/fans.

I am no computer genius, but am very handy. I was able to build my current system with the supplied instructions. A few minor complaints though. First, when trying to install my OEM copy of Windows XP (SP-1 embedded,) I could not get past the install vs. repair page. Apparantly the board will not accecpt anything older than XP with SP-2. Found this totally by accident. It would have been nice to be told this. I bought a USB keyboard and mouse thinking the problem was my IR stuff. Second, the diagram for the front panel connections in the instructions is upside down. I know it's a petty complaint, but it made initial start-up a problem. Finally, the SATA connectors are difficult to get to in my Antec Sonata III case.
Now that the teething problems are over, I love my new computer.
I would easily reccomend this board.

in theory, a wrist strap is great for times when you have to handhold your camera for long periods. in practice, this strap is just ok. it's made of faux leather -- stretchy neoprene would have been better -- which will only achieve a certain comfort level at best, and can become annoyingly irritating over time. it has one loop-through strap that goes around your camera's threads, and one that goes around your wrist with a flimsy quick-release clasp. this is an improvement over the nikon version which sells for 50% more, other wise they are almost exactly the same product. another feature this has over the nikon is on the bottompart, which screws into the tripod socket. it's a plastic plate which can be secured in either R or L orientation, with a soft padded contact area so you dont have to worry about scuffing up the camera. the trick thing is it includes an additional tripod socket so you can use it with a tripod. i dont think the nikon one has this either. as for grip and fit, it does provide a bit of additional security, but it would be better on a lighter camera like the d40 or e500 than a monster like the d300 or e3. wouldn't recommend it for use with a grip, either. also, people with large hands might want to avoid it altogether. the fake leather patch that goes on your forehand is pretty small. securing it opposite your palm, you can still get to the shutter and other buttons fairly easily, but this would be better if it came in diferent sizes. still, for the price, it's ok for when a neck strap is impractical.

MSI did a very nice job with this MB not that high end compare to their P55 GD80, it's somewhere between midrange and high end but it does the job very well, works great with my Core i5 750 and will perform even better with Core i7 860 or 870, it looks great and OC Genie overclocking feature is GENIUS. All round, I recommend this MB to anyone who can't afford to buy the very high end MB. This MB will not disappoint.

I replaced all the office Pentium/CRT units with Atoms/LCD displays and saw our power consumption cut by 50%. But a recent client required us to work with several Excel sheets with a total or 300,000 rows and the Atom started to bog down and VLOOKUPs started freezing on me.

I stumbled upon this great board in Amazon and promptly setup a test unit with a Core i3-520 and 4Gb RAM - the speed at which those Excel files loaded/worked blew me away.

I'm using the on-board DVI output coupled with a low-profile Radeon 4350 video card for a dual-monitor setup. For applications that requires raw processing power, productivity is definitely way better than the Atoms without sacrificing power efficiency.

The Core i3, on-chip HD graphics capability, HDMI port, and power-efficient design makes this a much better choice as a HTPC than the Atoms as it doesn't choke on 1080p or Blu-ray movies.

A great compromise between power consumption, processing power, and price!

Directions were easy to follow. the only thing missing in those directionswas the black SATA port is for the primary operating system hard drive. I just used the blue intel ones and could not get bios to come up. I have been building computers for about 15 years and work for an enterprise IT department for what that's worth.I mention this because of the trouble I had in getting this board to work.My big mistake in setting up this board is that I was building a computer with all new parts and unfortnately all my other computers use DDR2 and have Intel processors so I did not have any "known good" parts to swap with if I experienced trouble.So the boards features for the price are very nice and why I made the purchase.I can't say that I like the color scheme or that I don't but some people might like.Easy to set up (assuming it's not a lemon) and even comes with a velcro band for wires.However, when all was said and done it seemed to be working OK until I tried to install Win 7.I noticed it was very sluggish and once installed it had many problems.It did not present like a memory issue at first but after much troubleshooting the only thing I could see was bad memtest results, however those can result from a bad cpu, mobo, or RAM and as noted above and had no good items to swap out so I sent the RAM back first.The new RAM arrived, same issues.I played around with the timings again and was still getting bad results.I tried each DIMM slot and this was now 8 sticks of RAM that all tested bad.So I sent the board back only to have the new one have the same issues.Before jumping to conclusions about having 2 bad mobos, I put the RAM and proc in a known good board from another computer I had just built.1 bad board and I wouldn't even take a star away because it happens.2 bad boards is a little frustrating.I would rather have DOA than a board that sort of "works".Keep in mind while going through this I was able to build 4 other computers with ASUS, Intel, and MSI motherboards, all bought online from Amazon and Tiger Direct and thus went through the shipping process.I'm just relaying the facts of my personal experience but this was the first time I tried Biostar and probably the last for a while, especially when building computers for other people.I still gave 2 stars instead of none because I believe if you can get a working board, this is probably the best bang for the buck and also the return process was easy.

To solve the mystery of how you can get gain out of what might appear to be a omni-directional whip: This is a collinear antenna which has coils built into it so that it acts like several vertical antennas are stacked on top of one another, each creating more gain as the radiation pattern is squashed down into the shape of a toroid or doughnut so that little power is received or transmitted either directly above or below the antenna and instead concentrated in a band around the center. If the Wi-Fi antenna you want to receive from is elevated above you then you would want this kind of a antenna to be swiveled in such a manner as to put the whip at a 90 degree orientation to the remote station to allow signal reception or transmission off of the sides of the whip where the power is greatest.

Due to the way the receive and transmit pattern is in the shape of a toroid or doughnut this type of antenna can give good gain while at the same time being omni-directional, except above and below the antenna where you don't need to waste the power anyway. If you want a antenna which has much higher gain look for a more directional antenna such as the flat panel antennas, Yagi or a parabolic reflector type of antenna which depending upon the size, can have 20 dB (or more) of gain which is a factor of 100 making a 100 milliwatt or 1/10 of a watt signal seem as powerful as a 10 watt signal, or a 1 watt signal as powerful as 100 watts. If you buy a flat panel Wi-Fi antenna and get one rated for 20 dBi of gain the half power beam width for both receive and transmit will be about 20 degrees. With a 20 dBi gain flat panel directional antenna, if you point it 10 degrees to the left or right from where it should be pointed for maximum signal you will have the equivalent of 17 dB of gain but that apparent gain will quickly drop off the further away the antenna is pointed from the proper direction. Note: It is a coincidence that a 20 dBi gain antenna has a 20 degree wide half power beamwidth, normally gain and half power beamwidth do not correlate to the same numbers except in the case of a 20 dBi gain antenna.

If you want to receive or transmit to two different locations at the same time but want each to have the best signal possible using a single high gain flat panel antenna, you can cut the difference between them sacrificing some of the gain to each one and point the antenna to an area in the middle. As long as the two stations are close enough together to be within a healthy portion of the antennas area of gain this should work out fine. Obviously, you wouldn't expect to be able to use that antenna for two different locations if one was behind you and the other in front but if both are within 30 degrees from you and not too far away a 20 dBi gain antenna could be used by cutting the difference between them. If they are too far separated in azimuth direction from you use a high gain collinear antenna with more power on each end, or perhaps using a lower gain antenna which has a much wider beamwidth or separate antennas for each radio shot. You can also use a splitter designed for 2.4 GHz and combine the receive and transmit from two separate antennas together into one feedline going back to your equipment, if necessary, but there will be a 3+ dB penalty or loss of signal level when doing so but to me this seems like the best solution if you need all the gain you can get from a flat panel or highly directional antenna to each station when using a common or single Wi-Fi transmitter and receiver such as a LinkSys or other wireless router.

Here is a good rule of thumb for line of sight radio shots without buildings or other terrain in between, every time you half the distance you increase the received power from a remote location by six dB, or if you double the distance you lose six more dB of signal level. In areas where there are trees and buildings or hills between each location this rule does not apply as the signal losses can be very great for short distances.

I bought this to go with the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. That was a mistake. Although the box says 45nm ready this board does not work with those processors out of the box. To get it working with those newer processors you'll have to flash the BIOS, which means you'll have to get it running with an old processor before you get a new one. I found all this out the hard way and it took me several weeks to get my build going. Eventually I did get it running using a Pentium D 2.8 dual core I pulled from another computer and then updated the BIOS using MSI's Live Update online.

Now that everything is going though I'm pretty happy. I have the computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with the previously mentioned E8400 processor, a Nvidea 9600GT graphics card, and 2 GBs of DDR2 RAM. One feature I like about this board is the on-board audio. If you're not using a dedicated sound card what is built in here is more than capable and has a nice software interface. Of course it also has a place for a dedicated audio card too.

For anyone considering this board I would say it does work as a more affordable option to go with the new Intel processors. You'll have to be able to update the BIOS though (with an old processor), and that makes it a product I wouldn't really recommend. If you're using an older processor, or once you get it going with the most recent BIOS, the board does work well. Still, if I could do it over again though I would probably choose a different model.

first this cooler is coming with 3pin cable and the new motherboard comes with 4pin process fan cable and if you plugged into the normal 3pin fan
it well show error message with no process fan installed and you cannot solved this problem in the bios menu , if you forced and start the operating
system and measured the temperature is 29 degree and the room temperature is
23 degree but the operating system given the same problem there no processor
fan installed ... for more information am using this fan with intel qx9650.
After that i removed max orb fan and i installed the original fan processor
intel fan qx9650 all errors removed and no more problems and temperature measure is the same 29 degree .

No I don't own one as the one I tried would not fit with my ram modules BUT in another machine with smaller regular ddr3 ram I did play with it ( I gave it to a friend :D ).

Easy to install with the back plate and all included tools and parts ( they even give you a screw driver, not that we used it ).

Their huge thermaltake case fit it well and this cooler just dropped his oc'ed cpu temps 10c vs the TRUE that was in use before on their i7 920. Thats impressive and says alot. The real problem is the size and that many ( most ) high end ram modules with large heat spreaders will not work with this cooler.

IF you want the best air cooling out now do look at the noctua but also check the ram comparability chart ( amazon do not delete the link )

I hope this helps others looking at this cooler as it really is impressively made and works but it's size may just get in the way for some ( or in my case my ram ).

now if noctua could make a rev2 that will allow heat spreader ram use with this cooler ( humm loose some fins in the front maybe? can't make it taller or it won't fit any case this thing is already huge ).

This is a very good motherboard. I had an old PC that was not working so I decided to replace the motherboard. I took the old motherboard out of the case salvaged all of the parts especially the CPU and I got some DDR2 memory for a reasonable price. Put everything together and loaded Windows XP operating system and I had a nice brand new computer faster than the original.
I did not plan any other upgrades for the PC, but it does have SATA and IDE and it has 2 pci slots and 2 pci express (x16 & x1)
It was a pretty simple project and I am glad I did it.

I bought this motherboard in December 2009 to upgrade an old Dell.In general, it does everything I want.It is very good at being backward and forward compatible, meaning I could hook up a parallel printer or an HDTV (or both, technically).I have a lot of old stuff laying around, so I wanted a fast motherboard that could work with just about anything.It's got PCI-e and PCI, and is capable of adding a serial port because it has the pins on the board for a serial header, although you will need the proper plug.It does go quite fast.I run Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's wonderful.My only qualms are with the CPU socket and the memory capacity.Because this uses a G41 chipset (hence dG41kr), its maximum memory is only 4GB (the G41 chipset can address up to 8GB of DDR2 memory, or 4GB of DDR3, and this board uses DDR3).Plenty for me now (I'm using only 2), but better motherboards today go up to 16GB.I also am bothered that it comes with an LGA775 CPU socket, instead of the newer socket 1156, because it can only use Core 2 processors.Still though, that is pretty good, and I expect to get a good long life out of this board.If this board meets your needs, go for it, because you won't be disappointed.I only gave it 4 stars because of the memory capacity and CPU socket type.

Running more than 2 weeks without a problem. Installed and runs Win7 without a glitch.
Not an over-clocker or advanced tweaker, so I've not used any of the overclocking and tweaking options. However, this will probably remain my board when I upgrade with additional HD5770 for cross-fire operation, better processor and more RAM.

iPod Touch Clear Silicone Skin from Prima Cases Review

Prima is a good company and this is a good case, though it's not quite perfect.While the fit is quite exact, I find it's not quite as snug as I would like, which makes it pretty easy for dust and debris to get into the case.For example, the edges can flip up as I'm stowing my touch in my pocket, letting crud get trapped between the case and the iPod, whichcan't be good for the finish.

I also found that while the silicone texture provides excellent grip, that same grip creates a lot of friction when trying to slip my iPod into a pocket or tight space.So your precious iPod will be less likely to slip from your fingers, but it's also harder to access, which I think is not a good trade-off because the iPod touch can't really be operated without holding and seeing it (i.e., you can't easily change the volume or skip a track while it's in your pocket), so I'm always putting it away and retrieving it.

In the end I opted for a clear hard case from another maker.

The only problem is that the case surrounding the iPhone is too soft and after a few weeks flexes so that it is inconvenient to use the keys at the edge of the screen. Also it lacks a camera lens cut out. If they could have made the case with a firmer frame around the phone (and lens cutout) it would be very hard to beat.

Intel DP55SB Desktop Board (LGA1156, DDR3) Review

The Intel DP55SB motherboard; It is part of my first computer build. I am fairly young so it did take me a while to carefully choose and buy this motherboard XD I had trouble running the new build. The system was dead. After testing out the power supply, I wasn't sure whether the problem lay with the motherboard or the i5-750 processor.

I was impatient as any other person would be and decided to ask Amazon for a replacement of the mobo. But the night before I was planning to send back the items I tried them again.Tested the board and CPU on the bench. Ahh... It turns out the CPU was not seated properly. Tested the board and the CPU in the case with everything connected. Again, dead. Starting plugging and unplugging cords. Oh damn, for some reason I cannot connect the fans to both the power supply and the board. Hey, I'm no computer wiz and I have no idea why... Anyways the case was alive! It was sheer happiness at this accomplishment, building your own computer!

So now onto the board itself, it is Micro-ATX, therefore it does give room for additional fans and stuff... Yet it still delivers the same goodies as its daddy, the DP55KG. Note that it just has less PCI slots. Bluetooth? Haven't tried yet even though that's the reason I saved up for this board. Though the abundant USB ports are good as well as the HD audio support. The Intel "Desktop Control Center" is a must for overclocking and such, its like a cool-looking bios.

In conclusion, please don't give up on any motherboard and deem it as defective when your new pc does not turn on. Mess around with the cables and such, make sure the processor is seated properly, and don't curse at the mobo =D. It supports SLI if you're into that stuff, overall the DP55SB is definitely a reliable motherboard. Oh by the way, it only supports certain type of memory (DDR3 1066/1333 MHZ). Just check the Intel site for the recommended memory modules. Cheers!

I decided to build a computer after a 10 year hiatus.

SPECS:
I chose this motherboard, 4gb (2x2g)Corsair XMS 3 1600mhz ram,the new unlocked Intel i-875K processor cooled by a Corsair Hydro H50.Also went with Ultra X4 750 watt modular Power Supply, Hitachi 1gb 7200rpm Sata HD, Lite-On 24x DVD+RW, the LEXA S Case, and the EVGA GTX480 video card, and Asus XONAR Essence ST Soundcard.I have a 30 inch Dell 3008WFP Monitor, Apple Blue-tooth Wireless Keyboard and Logitech Performance Mouse MX to complete out my build.I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit 1 user OEM.

INSTALL:
It took me most of a Friday night to get this built.Mostly because the back plate of the Cooler doesn't fit correctly, I had to live with some bow in the back plate to get the 4th screw in.But all and all not too bad.It booted fine the first time.I didn't realize you can't use a Blue-tooth Keyboard at first so I had to grab an older cordless usb Microsoft one to actually set up Windows.The motherboard lined us great with my case and the SATA Cables and many of the other cables were able to route behind the motherboard through rubberized holes in the case.I had no issues installing the motherboard at all, just fine, and well laid out to plug in 4 fans, a water cooler, sata plugs, case front panel wires, power wires, etc.A+++

PERFORMANCE:
I didn't know how to overclock anymore after 10 years.So I read some stuff googling and wasn't sure and instead just used the Intel Desktop Control Panel to experiment.I ended up setting the Ram to 1600mhz and only changing the multiplier to 29x in quad config, 30 in three, and 31 in 2 and single core.I get a score of about 9,000 on CPU Mark.That was all I needed to do, no changing voltages or any of the rest of it.That is what worked best and has run cool and solid ever since.

FEATURES:
The blue-tooth doesn't work for my Apple keyboard, it recognizes it, lets you type in the code but loses connection, so I use a small usb dongle instead.The Video Card sits fine.There is some bling you can turn on in the bios for lights and a blue skull with glowing red eyes.I turned it on high since I have a case window.The real feature is the Intel Control Panel.It shows temps, overclock settings and fan speeds and lets you save profiles.That is a great feature and now that I am done overclocking, I don't use the bios anymore.I also downloaded the latest drivers and firmware from Intel.Paired with the Asus Soundcard (got because of the powerful headphone amp built in) I just use Grado SR-80 and Sennheiser RS140 wireless headphones and a set of Altec Lansing FX6021 speakers.

FINAL IMPRESSION:For me this was a good jump back in to building my own computer.I wasn't satisfied with anything pre-built that I could afford.Building my own let me spend in the areas I valued.The Intel Board was a great choice because it runs well and is very expandable with a second or even third video card and lots of SATA and USB Ports.Get one!

I have mixed feelings about the EVGA P55 series in general.I first started with the P55 FTW board and ran into issues installing Windows 7.Luckily with the help of the EVGA forum community, I was able to figure out that the Intel SpeedStep feature was causing my BSODs.Updating to the latest BIOS and drivers didn't help, so I eventually returned that board.Next I bought the P55 SLI (because I really did not need all the advanced O/C features of the FTW) and ran into other issues.Windows 7 installed fine with SpeedStep enabled this time, but in Windows, only 2 out of my 4 GB RAM was being used.Windows and third party tools were able to recognize my 4 GBs, but only use 2.Again with the help of the EVGA forum, I had to re-sit my CPU in its socket to get my other 2 GBs back.(This had to do with the memory controller being in the socket.)

This is my 12th build in the last ~10 years and it was a very frustrating weekend dealing with these random issues, but I am finally all up and running.The board itself looks amazing and laid out very well.The EVGA forum is great with a ton of knowledgeable members.I would have hoped everything would have worked the first time, but I am going to cut EVGA some slack.

Overall, this board and the P55 series in general, get 4 stars out of 5.

Nice looking. Ideal for mooding, the blue leds look great in the night, there's almost no noise. High performance, no problems with the processor's overclock.
You have got to make sure you have enought space in your chassis to mount this monster. It's really big. Installation in a K8 is very simple, for Intel processor is a piece of cake, but if you have an AM2 you have got to have 4 arms or a friends that helps, installation for AM2 is very frustrating...
There's a problem with the AMD2. Pictures never show that when you use the black plate and the 2 metal adapters, they are not going to be "steady" for themselves they move all the time, but it is fixed when you mount the blue orb in the metal adapters. This is a little tricky and sometimes you might think you are doing something wrong because of the bouncing metal adapters. But it is ok at the end.

Se ve genial, no hace ruido. Es la solución ideal para un overclock al procesador con un buen estilo, super recomendado si vas a hacer modding, los leds azules se ven muy bien en la noche.
Hay que tener cuidado de que la torre tenga suficiente espacio, cuando te digo que este es un monstruo grande, me refiero a que es enorme.Ojo con que quepan las memorias, y que el montaje no choque con la fuente de poder, a mi me encajo casi rozando los otros componentes.
Si vas a instalarlo en intel o un k8 no hay problema, pero en un AM2 tienes que tener cuatro brazos o algun amigo que te ayude.
Hay un problema, cuando usas el black plate (la pieza negra de plastico) y los dos adaptadores metalicos que vienen para el Am2, estos no quedan fijos sino bailando o balanceandose. Uno pensaria que hizo algo mal pues no es logico que no quede fijo el montaje, pero esto se arregla cuando teminas de motar el cooler, cuando ya lo atornillas (cosa bastante dificil por cierto, es aca cuando necesitas los 4 brazos) el cooler ya queda fijo junto con todo el montaje. Deberia haber una advertencia para que uno no pensara que se ha equivocado a la mitad del proceso.

I got this for a windows home server build up.It started up first time, no problem.I am still burning in the server, so I only have one hdd, and the dvd drive (sata) attached.I am running the 13-530 and its pretty fast on 4 gigs of ram, at least for server duties.Will update soon.

Oh, no bios overclocking as far as I can see.I am just using for home server, though it may see some media center duties.i am sure it will be more than adequate for that.Right now it is displaying 1680 x 1050 (i think) and it looks great.

Mennon Digital Camera/Camcorder hand strap/grip Review

I purchased this strap for my Canon G10.I can't complain about the quality of the product.I just don't love the way it fits my hand and camera.For those looking for some dimensions, the strap is a hair under 0.5" but comes with a triangle shaped clip for cameras that won't accept a 0.5" strap.The bottom housing and screw adds another 1.7cm to the height of any camera.My problem with the strap is that I couldn't fit my hand in the strap and reach the shutter button with my index finger since the button is in line with the strap.It's possible to leave your index finger out of the strap and reach the shutter button but it wasn't as comfortable and my grip didn't feel as secure that way.I'm going to try a wrist strap instead.

First of all, I ordered the pictured Mennon strap, but the strap I received looks different and has no manufactorer name printed on - this could be any brand.

Anyway, the main thing is that this hand strap is very uncomfortable and my hand hurts after only 1/2 hour shooting.
I had before a similar strap from opteca which did not look as good as this one, and was definitelly plastic, but it really was comfortable...

In general, and if you are thinking of buying a hand strap the first time:
Using a hand strap is simply a matter of taste. I hate camera straps tangeling in my eyes and getting in the way of my viewfinder, especially when I shoot in a studio or any fixed location. A hand strap is the right thing for me. Needless to say that you will take some time to find the right adjustment for you - keep adjusting from thight to loose until you feel comfortable, having your handstrap loose enough to still reach the buttons of your camera and thight enough to have a secure grip. It will take some time... The biggest advantages of a hand grip is, that you don't have tangeling straps in your face, and have your camera more secure in your hand (much less chance to drop it). Another very important factor for me is that I can handhold my camera with a much lower shutter speed than without a hand strap - the biggest advantage - sharper pictures!
By the way, you do need also a neck strap to have your camera safe for walk around, and it also make lens change much easier on the street. I use a strap with safety hooks on the end, which safely hook on directly to the camera. Straps with quick release still have an end of the strap tangeling from the camera when the strap is disconnected...

I certainly can not recommend this strap whatever brand it may be. My hand will be unusable after just a few hours of shooting. I will try other brands, and if I don't find the right thing, go back to the Optek hand strap...

Bought this for my i7-930 on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard.It was a little bigger than I thought.It fit in my case but I had to remove a Side fan.Install requires you to remove the Motherboard.Definately better than the stock fan.

I bought this item to replace the stock cooler on an AMD Phenom II CPU as the stock cooler is very loud.The stock cooler kept the CPU between 41 and 46 degrees C.After placing this cooler the CPU temperature was at 56 degrees C.It was quiet but the CPU temp alarm kept going off.I tried using better thermal compound than what shipped with the cooler but that did not help at all.Avoid this product at all costs as the restocking fee makes it worthless to ship back to the seller when you also factor in the shipping costs.

I am kind of a CPU heatsink snob, and I tend to prefer the largest/quietest units I can get - but when I went with the Antec Skeleton case it limited by choices by quite a bit.At only 88mm tall (including the fan), this Cooler Master heatsink fit my requirements perfectly.Normally, I wouldn't have gone with a little unit like this - but I have been extremely impressed so far.

As far as compatability goes, this heatsink also works with the socket 1366 processors; even though it isn't specified in the info on Amazon.I'm using it with a Core I7 920 and it works perfectly - all the required parts for socket 1366 were included in the box.

One note on the installation is that you'll have to have the motherboard out when installing this heatsink.I'm not saying you need to pull it out just to install the backplate as with most other coolers - but you actually need to have the motherboard out when installing the heatsink itself; which seemed kind of awkward, but it wasn't very hard.

The first thing of note is that this is one of the quietest heatsinks I've used.I have other heatsink/fan combinations from Noctua, Nexus, and Zalman; and this is probably running quieter than any of those - even without adding a resistor to limit the fan speed!When I ordered this, I was planning on swapping out the fan with a 120mm Nexus, but it looks like I don't have to.

The cooling is also impressive.I run my main PC in extremely challenging conditions by keeping it locked up in a closed cabinet with only one 92mm intake fan and a 120mm exhaust fan that is venting into the garage.When you combine that with the summer heat in Texas, this is probably one of the most stressful conditions for a CPU heatsink.Even under full load, my Core I7 CPU has not gone above 160F (which may seem hot - but it's pretty impressive for the conditions).

Other reviewers have mentioned getting another type of thermal paste and I concur.Personally, I like the Arctic Silver 5.

Overall, I highly recommend this heatsink.Even if you don't specifically need a low profile unit, I think this is still a top choice.

This motherboard is solid. The board layout is very easy to work with. Installation was pretty straightforward. What I like most about this motherboard is that it's easy to tweak the setting in the bios. It even has some preset tweaks you can try instead of making your own bios modifications.

The only negative aspect is the manual could have gone into more detail for the various bios settings. Unfortunately this is the case with many motherboard manufacturers.
